Our Commitment to the People of Southwest Virginia
We hope this site helps you stay in touch with us.
Browning, Lamie, & Gifford, P.C. has been representing Southwest Virginians since 1972. Our mission is to protect our clients' legal rights and seek justice for them. Our offices are located in Abingdon, Rosedale, Grundy and Wytheville to serve all of the region.
We have committed our resources, energy and experience to help those who have Social Security and Workers' Compensation claims, have been injured in accidents, or need debt relief assistance. We want our clients to receive the benefits they have earned and rights the legal system provides for them.
All of us have strong roots in Southwest Virginia. Larry Browning grew up in Grundy. When he returned to Southwest Virginia after law school, he dedicated himself to learning all aspects of disability and building a successful Social Security practice. Larry takes pride in being an advocate for those needing disability benefits. He still resides in Buchanan County and sees his clients in our offices in Rosedale and Grundy.
John Lamie was born in Saltville, Virginia and grew up in Bristol, Tennessee. He moved to Abingdon after law school and began representing clients with debt relief needs, personal injury cases, disability claims and other legal needs. He resides in Abingdon but serves clients in all of the firm’s offices. He has been active in civic affairs and was a candidate for State Senate in 2011. He believes in fighting for his client as long as it takes to get justice and even had one case go to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003.
John Gifford came to Southwest Virginia in 1982 and worked for many years at the Southwest Virginia Legal Aid Society, where he still serves on the Board. He is committed to protecting the rights of the disabled and those who are injured on the job. He speaks Spanish and has represented many Spanish-speaking clients. He is also a very skilled bankruptcy attorney with much success in helping clients with financial problems. He lives in Abingdon and sees clients in all the firm’s offices.
Craig Kendrick grew up in Meadowview and has a long history representing clients in the region. He is a Director of Highlands Union Bank. Craig still lives in Meadowview and travels to all our firm’s locations to help clients. He does real estate closings, drafts wills and handles property cases. He also assists in our firm’s Social Security practice and is a very careful and thorough advocate for disability claimants.
We know how to help.
When you call us, you will get an appointment with one of our attorneys who will advise you of your rights and represent you, but our relationship does not stop at that point. Our paralegals, legal assistants and other staff in our four offices throughout the region are all experienced and dedicated to handling your claim and protecting your rights. Susan Lowry is our firm’s administrator and also a paralegal. She is a graduate of the Virginia Intermont College. She served the Attorney General of Virginia for many years prior to joining our firm. Derek Lyall is a graduate of UVA Wise and managed projects as a member of the staff of Congressman Boucher before joining Browning, Lamie & Gifford, P.C.
